How to find us

The German Pharmacy Museum is located inside Heidelberg Castle.

Going up to the Castle by Tour Coach:
Driving up to the castle is restricted for coaches. If you are planning to visit us in groups by coach, please make a coach parking reservation in time (at least 5 days in advance) to assure sufficient parking spaces close by. For further details please click here.

Public Transport:
Please take bus line 33 (with direction Ziegelhausen-Köpfel) from Heidelberg Main Station or Heidelberg-Bismarckplatz down to the foot of the castle hill, bus stop "Bergbahn" (Furnicular, the Heidelberg Mountain Railway).

Offering a fantastic view on the old town of Heidelberg, you can take a 10 minute walk up the steep path “Burgweg”, leading directly into Heidelberg Castle or

Use the Heidelberg Mountain Railway:
Starting at the "Kornmarkt" square station. To get there, either take the bus, line 33 (with direction Ziegelhausen-Köpfel) and dismount at station "Bergbahn" (Furnicular, the Heidelberg Mountain Railway). From April to October, railway trains run daily, every 10 minutes, between 9.00 am to 8.20 pm. In Winter season the last train up to the castle leaves at 5.10 pm. Walking up:
In case you prefer ending a walk through the historic old town of Heidelberg with a visit to Heidelberg Castle and the German Pharmacy Museum, please take the Hauptstraße (main street), heading from Bismarckplatz to the Heilig-Geist-Kirche (on market-place) up to the Rathaus (town hall). To the right, you will find Kornmarkt square where the steep but picturesque Burgweg starts, leading uphill past the Altan (a terrace with a splendid view) right into the courtyard of Heidelberg Castle.

Taking the car:
All possible ways to Heidelberg Castle are clearly signposted (with the symbol of a castle) in the city. Please click here for further details of parking in the historic old town of Heidelberg.

Usually, you might park your car in the car park set nearby the castle. Please follow the "Schloss-Wolfsbrunnenweg" around 500 m. At the end of the castle gardens turn left. On the right side you will find the car park set. A short three to five minutes walk through the beautiful castle gardens will take you to the entrance. Please notice: Parking places are limited at Heidelberg Castle. We recommend you to park in the historic old town.

Attention please!
Between 1st of April to 30th of October, on weekends driving up to the castle is restricted for cars. On Saturdays and Sundays, streets are barred from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm.

Consequently we recommend following the parking signs to the underground car parks P 12 (at Karlsplatz) or P 13 (at Kornmarkt) which are situated close to the Heidelberg Mountain Railway and the footpath (Burgweg) up to the castle hill.
